Are You Making These Mistakes?

  • Mistake#1 Weak composition by not telling a strong story
  • Mistake #2 Shooting at the Wrong time
  • Mistake #3 Not using the right camera setting to get a proper exposure
  • Mistake#4 Over retouching

This STORY changed my life as a photographer

In 2005 I started photography literally overnight. I went from never having taken a photo to taking tons. But the first two years my work was very bad.

Two years into I decided to show my work to a professional photographer, I was so happy because I finally managed to get some sharp night photos of Paris and I was sure that he was going to like it!

This is some of the work that I showed him. I’m ashamed now
I walked into the office to see Michel who is a famous photographer who worked for many magazines, and I can see that he doesn’t like what he is seeing. (Despite the fact that my friends and family told they were amazing!)

I asked what’s wrong?

I knew I had to step up my game or I was going to lose my book deal.

He answered: All your skies are black, lots of contrast. You need to shout when the light is incredible, like Golden hour, Sunset, and dusk.

And he starts showing me incredible photos he shot in Morocco at dusk.

I told him, I stayed most of the night shooting Paris, there was hardly a sunset, and it was only 5 minutes. You mean I should have left after the sunset? But I stayed most of the night!

His answer hit me like a bomb: Welcome to the world of Photography!

I thought I got it ! but no…

I spend the next months trying to get the best possible Golden Hour and Sunset, but it was horrible

One Of My First Golden Hour Shots

One Of My First Golden Hour Shots

Then I realized the SECRET:

Shoot in the best possible light, good composition – a strong STORY, RIGHT exposure in RAW and use LIGHTROOM to make the best of it!

Once I understood that I got busy and develop a method for getting it RIGHT in the camera and make it even better in Lightroom. Every night after work I would go out and take photos and I stared having a great collection of Paris PHOTOS using this method. At the time I worked as a salesmen for my brother selling website to Parisian hotels. Every night after work I stick around if the light was any good takes photos only at the right time and then go home.

Thanks to this METHOD I was able to quit my JOB and became a full-time photographer

A couple of years later I got a deal with Teneues a German publisher and published my first two books Paris and New York in Black and white

It got even BETTER I got into the biggest art gallery network in the world Yellow Korner!

I was able to quit my job and I never been happier since.

I then started teaching this method to a few friends and to more and photographer and other people started having huge success. From Charly Simon who is now the nbr 1 interior design photographer in Spain, to Jakub Bors who was a Social Media Manger and now makes a great living as a fine Art Photographer. Tim Shield who went on to be one of the most awarded photographers over the last years who achieved a a success beyond belief as a photographer.

This fine art methods work for real, you too can take incredible photos

Why I've Created This Program

As photographers, I think the greatest thing we can aspire to is creating an effect on the world with our work. But what does this mean?

Well, when I travel with my camera and take photos, I do it to show people the beauty of this world and seeing the effect it creates in them. Part of my success has been from publishing my work in 7 fine art books and being featured in over 80 galleries around the world. The other part of my work involves helping other artists find their unique voice in photography through my courses and photography tools.

3,906 Photographers And Counting!

I created this special program for the photographers that want to create a bigger effect with their work.

Well, the results speak for themselves. Over 3,900 photographers and counting have changed their photography with their program; many of them getting published in books and many more being featured in galleries locally and internationally.

Marc Barthelemy

"I made it to the top 10 B&W photographers in Luxembourg after Serge training."
